sudden problems uploading album

I do this like clockwork at least a couple times per month, but all of a sudden most of my album uploaded but it's missing some key elements. I tried to upload again to pickup anything that was missed and it won't let me. It says I'm uploading an album to the root and I'm not... it's the correct path because the folder has already been created and it's there.... It asks me if I want to continue and I say yes but it won't do anything. I'm in a panic here, this is past due work.

I finally selected the folder that I had already uploaded and it allowed me to upload. Never happened that way before, but the error message before that is what freaked me out.

Your ftp server all of a sudden (due to an update probably) doesn't like a command the jAlbum client sends. The server complains: "500 Unknown command"

What jAlbum version are you using? Modern releases has the "Apache Commons ftp" connection type. Try it under Tools->Upload/Manage -> Type

jAlbum 34.3 64 bit Pro. I don't see that option.

So if I update, will this auto fix this issue or will I have to do some reconfiguring? Not sure how I got it to work but just repeated the upload.

If you update to 39.9 or better, it should switch to the newer choice automatically. if not, you can just change it manually - everything else about the connection should remain the same (username, password, etc.).

Even better, if your web host supports SFTP, use it. Much more stable. But you might have to check with your host about the port number - hosts tend to improvise on that one, rather than using a default number.

Off-topic, but I noticed some peculiar folder titles in your Kart_Sep26 album, and was initially puzzled. Why would a folder have a title like !GroupShots or !Unidentified? I suspect you're doing that to force the sort order, but you really don't need to.

First choice: you could just call the folder Group Shots, let jAlbum sort the folders by name, but then go into the Practice folder in the project and drag the Group Shots folder to the first position. Ditto for Unidentified.

Second choice: go ahead and use the exclamation point to force the sorting, but enter a title for the folder. In Explore, open the Practice folder, select the !GroupShots folder, open it for editing - click on the little "burger" icon and choose Edit - then enter a title for it at upper right: Group Shots. The skin will display that title instead of the raw folder name.
