Photo captions overlaying images

Is there a way to prevent photo captions from overlaying the images? It seems that the photoswipe dynamic caption plugin (https://github.com/dimsemenov/photoswipe-dynamic-caption-plugin) might address this issue. Can it be used with the plain skin?

Or just use a skin that never allows the captions to overlay the images.

That appears to be Plain, which is not one of my skins. It's an inviolable rule in my skins: the slide image caption never overlays the image.

ETA: The same is true of navigation controls/bars. They never overlay the image. The only exception is, in some skins, right and left arrows for on-image navigation, which generally appear only on mouseover.

The OP was asking how to keep the captions clear of the slide images in Plain. I'm comparing Plain (not mine) to Neptune (mine). With a little tinkering with the settings, a Neptune album can look very much like a Plain album, but with captions always "in the clear." No add-on scripts or plugins needed.
