Hi David,

I found this https://roadmap.jalbum.net thing the other day and the topic „Add AI to auto-tag images (people, places and things)“

I have no idea how to sign in, so this is my answer. (No, I don't have an account with Facebook or Google)

Please, dont't do that. This dialog is on the top 5 list of the worst dialogs in JA at all. Have you really used it? Even once? This is a disaster.

  • Open the dialog
  • The size is 400x620. This is just unbelivable. Even 20 years ago the size would have been just a joke.
  • OK, this is just a one-time bad experience, right?
  • Let's resize the dialog to a proper size
  • Tag some people, places and things and close the dialog
  • Reopen it
  • WHHHHAAAAAAAAAT the hell... It opens with 400x620.

  • The defaut orientation of this dialog is in portrait modus. Why? OK, I give up, because todays fotos are from smartphones and 99% of them are in portrait modus.

  • Pressing the button to identify faces does work for me maybe 1 time out of 50. But that is not the only problem. 49 out of 50 times I get no feedback. This is a bad user experience too. Why not just show a text somewhere in the lower panel of that dialog. Something like. „No faces found“.

Just fix the above, please. Then, if you really have to do it, add AI. :-)

Didn’t you see the sign in with email address? Just enter an email address and you get a link to confirm you own the address. Click on the link to sign in.

Markus, adding AI face detection would naturally resolve the last issue you mentioned. The others we can take care of without AI.

Rob, yes, I saw that. But hey, I have hundreds of accounts for this and that... Just another one, for giving a comment, oh no.
