EXIF GPS not being detected

Someone else, I believe MarkusD, reported a problem with jAlbum picking up GPS info from an image, and I've now confirmed it.

If the image contains only EXIF GPS info, like the attached image, and the Advanced > Metadata > Sources has only jAlbum checked, the coordinates are not being picked up. If xmp is also chosen, the coordinates are retrieved, even though there are actually no xmp GPS data in the image.

Thanks for reporting, but this problem isn't new to v39.5, is it?

Tough to sort out, but it appears to have been working correctly in 39.4b5, but not in 39.4.8.

Correct

Ah, now fixed. It was a side effect of me centralising the code that reads metadata for various album object properties (comments, titles, keywords, GPS coordinates etc)

Do a core update to get the fix.

Yes, it's back to the traditional behavior. :)

In most cases, including xmp in the sources isn't a problem, but I've got instances in my demo albums in which the images I'm using have "polluted" xmp metadata, like comments or titles from other uses of the images. So in those projects, it's turned off. Otherwise, I might not have noticed this one!
