Caption and Image Placement Issue

Hello,

I've encountered a couple of issues but I'm not sure if this is a Story issue or a base JALBUM issue. I'm using JA 39.2.2 and Story 7.4.1 on MACOS. I've also attached two screenshots:

  • jalbum-before which shows the app view of the problem items
  • jalbum-rendered which shows the actual rendered webpage display.

Also, I've tried all of the standard browser cache clears, restarts of the MAC, and have also seen the same results via multiple browsers (safari, chrome, edge, firefox).

So I'm seeing different issues occurring.

Live page where the issue is observed:Link: https://robsphotos.blog/wildlands-trust/willowbrook-farm

1. The caption from photo #1 is being duplicated and replicated to photo #2. If you take a look at the before screenshot, the item labeled with the RED 1 has the comment that is propagated (look at the jalbum-rendered screenshot) both items labeled #1 and #2. #2 comment in JALBUM is simply “Pudding Brook” which does not appear on the rendered page URL.

2. For Item labeled #3, it gets rendered out of order and has the wrong comment. It has photo #2’s comment.

3. There are several other comments incorrectly attributed to images and I won’t describe them all here but they are numbered for you to see.

4. Lastly, if you look at image #8 in the before attachment, you’ll see that it’s positioned after the Page that was inserted. Sorry, I should have numbered that but it’s what you see between #7 and #8 on the before attachment. When this gets rendered on the webpage, it shows up before the page, not immediately after.

Thanks

Just an update. As I move further down on that webpage more and more of the comments are misplaced. From what I can tell, everything before the documented photos has properly placed comments.

The trouble starts long before those images. See the attached screenshot. Starting with the next image after that object, each thumbnail is linking to the wrong slide image. Clicking the "milking stanchions" thumbnail, for example, brings up the "diverging paths" slide image.

Try temporarily excluding the "Wildlands Trust: Human History....." object, and making the album again. Just a hunch that the web location is being somehow mishandled....

Nice problem solving Jeff, thanks very much. As you suggested I excluding the "Wildlands Trust: Human History" object and rebuilt and republished the album. All of the issues I mentioned look to have been resolved.

So am I using the web location object incorrectly?

Thanks again,

Rob

I built an entire IT career on the strength of having a pretty good guessing percentage. ;)

No clue, but I'll experiment a bit. To me, Story is a bit of a black box - not my skin, I don't use it, and I don't know how things work. I'll check back in if I can reproduce the problem with a simple test project.

Didn't take long. If I include a web location and tell the skin to include it in the story as a link, as a small thumbnail, or as a thumbnail, I start getting the "off by one" problems you ran into. If I tell the skin to include it as a folder, or as a full embed, things appear to work properly.

This is one for Laza.....

Thanks, Jeff, for the detective work! The skin should exclude web location cads when it loads the thumbnails. I'll fix that.
