Jeff,

Got around to testing a custom filetypes.xml and it worked as demonstrated. Took me a minute to find my config folder, but finally remembered the Tools menu option to open that folder.

Your suggestion shows a working method to include additional file types that are not supported or built-in.

It would be great if jAlbum would allow users to link "any" file they want using some default unknown icon so we don't have to mess with custom filetypes.xml management. May be I'll post some suggestions as a "Feature Request" to keep it in your minds. In the end, don't end-users always know should be linked

I used ChatGPT with a list of applications and asked it to build the xml. After a try or 3 I had a list of applications and their possible file extensions.

Will play with Tiger a bit to see about improving what the default icon is and see if I can get it to immediately download the item rather than having to click to see the icon placeholder again and then click again to download.

I don't think I would do that. Imagine an album with 9 images and a Word doc in the middle of them. The visitor clicks the first thumbnail, and looks at the photo. Then he starts hitting "next, next." In the middle of that, he's suddenly prompted to provide a location for a download. Probably not what he wants. Even worse if he's watching a timed slideshow!

What I would do, instead, would be to change the index page so that the thumbnail for the Word document, if clicked, would prompt for a download location. Then I'd leave that Word document out of the slideshow entirely. No sense presenting it in a lightbox, since there's nothing to look at.

I know how I would do that in one of my skins, but I wouldn't know where to start in one of Laza's skins.

You could always upload the files to a location on your server and then link to it using a webLocation. Then it just comes down to how a skin treats webLocations.

I bet it was at least 15 file types and that would only cover the most common ones. Other users may well ask for other file types to be added.
