Running Jalbum 38.2.1 on W10
Could someone please tell me how I switch off this annoying popup (and stupid sound effect), I've searched in the preferences but can't find anything - probably me just being blind
The search doesn't work in any case, it says use me to search for preferences and I've put in "turn off popup" and it didn't find anything

It will also search the current project for things like comments. Open your massive family album. "Now, where are the pictures of Helen?" Enter Helen and see the results.

Ok Jeff, thanks for the reply, I'll give that a go.
I'm not sure why the pop up as needed, I would have thought most users would know what a search box would do, obviously the software designers must think their users are a bunch of idiots

- The most common question we get is, "Where is the setting for X?"
- Most users don't read release notes, so if you don't point out a new feature in some way, they never find it.
- Very few applications provide a search function that helps you find where various settings are, so users don't expect to encounter it.
- Some users think that it works like a Google search, so they don't bother trying it unless they're looking for a good recipe for brownies. They need to see it in operation before they understand it.
- If you use it just once, you never see the popup again.

Yes, Jeff summarised the reason why we're annoying users with this particular popup. Once you used the search feature once it goes away and you've now discovered one of the most efficient way to find the setting you're looking for. On balance, less annoyance.
