Can't change banner bar color

After the latest update of jAlbum, I lost my banner bar. It was a dark blue background with white text and white nav icons. My nav icons now display horizontally when they used to display vertically. I am using a custom settings but I can't find anywhere under custom settings to change the banner color or to change the text color for the banner.

It's Jupiter, which I can spot from a mile off.

A couple of updates ago, I completely rewrote most of Jupiter, and in the process, I simplified the title bar options. That does, however, make what you want require a different approach.

Sometimes I love to tinker with something like this. It helps to know where all the bodies are buried. I put this together over a couple of single malts. I tried to make it look like your home page (using my own stock images, of course). How does this strike your fancy?

(demo album removed)

I'll post back tomorrow with some instructions, when I sober up. It's very different from what you're doing, but requires almost no custom coding at all!

Attachment jalbum-settings.jap (18.8 KB)
Attachment darkblue.jpg (741 bytes)
Attachment herbsegarslogo.jpg (32.5 KB)
Attachment spring_lake1.jpg (1.2 MB)
Here's the drill....

Copy the attached files to your PC somewhere.

Open your project, then choose File > Import > Settings from Project, and navigate to the jalbum-settings.jap file I've attached here.

In Explore, add the attached darkblue.jpg file I've attached. Exclude it by selecting it, then hitting the "minus" key. Finally, drag it to the Theme image box on the lower right. Because Jupiter no longer provides for a solid color title bar, we're using a little solid color JPG as the theme image, and letting it repeat (rather than resizing).

Head for Settings > Jupiter > Title Bar > Logo Image. Click Remove on the logo image, then Add the herbsegarslogo.jpg file I've attached (it needs to re-added so that jAlbum can cache it properly for the project). Instead of a lot of messy custom code, we're letting the skin take care of presenting your logo.

Go to Info Page > Design > Image. Click Remove on the logo image, then Add the spring_lake1.jpg file I've attached (re-added for the same reason). The info page text no longer includes a manual call to that image - we're letting the skin take care of it.

You'll see that the custom code is now down to just a few CSS tweaks, just to move the nav icons a bit so that they line up better with the logo, and some adjustments to the logo and nav icons when viewed on a small display.

That should do the trick, when you Make Album again.

In your existing album, the navigation icons are vertical because of some ill-advised custom CSS. They don't work properly on a large monitor (they often "spill out" of the title bar), and they make the album almost unusable on a phone. The nav icons must remain horizontal.

Jeff:

I did everything that you said to do and when I make the album and preview it, it looks great. After uploading, it doesn't look the same. I also get an error message after each full upload. I have attached it. I tried deleting all the files under gallery on my web site and uploading everything. It still is not the same. I didn't make any other changes than the ones that you told me to. Web site is here.

Visiting your site, it all looks exactly as I hoped it would. :)

And I'm not getting any browser console error messages, which would be happening if there were missing files somewhere. You're probably seeing some stale cached files. Time to do some browser cache clearing! What's your default browser? It might be enough to hit CTRL-F5 when visiting the top page of the album, to force a fresh reload.

Not sure why you're getting upload errors. Please start a new thread in the "uploading" forum section, and post the error message there. Just a hunch, but it might be stalling when trying to post the manifest file. But in the meantime, find out if your web host can support SFTP instead of regular FTP. Much more robust.

I'm glad it's working.

But are you still seeing the upload error message? If so, please start a new post about it. The underlying uploading libraries were recently changed, and if there are problems, David really needs to know about them! Thanks.
