Save album on make, does that still work?

I lost changes to an album today after doing a Make Album.

I did not save it before or after, I was relying on the setting Save Album on Make in settings.
Just did Make and quit jAlbum. No warning about changes not saved.
That used to work in the past. Not today.

Redid the changes, saved the project and Made album again.

Latest version of jAlbum, Windows 11. jAlbum files on a NAS.

Just did a quick test, and it's working for me. Not sure what to suggest - AFAIK, this hasn't been changed in many, many versions.

Does not work for me.

Test album, all defaults.

Added 1 image

Did a Make. No .bak file created.

Did a Save Project. BAK file created so it is saved.

In Preferences Save album on Make is checked.

Dumb question, but are you sure you've chosen both options? See screenshot.

If so, open the config directory - Tools > Open Directories > Config directory. Then open defaults.jap in a text editor. This line should appear in there:
saveOnMakeAlbum=true

Just to ensure you are aware of the implications of selecting both 'save on make' and 'save backups of projects'. From the wiki page for preferences>Projects.

'Warning: If you also have save 'backups of projects' selected you will only be able to roll back to the settings from just before the last 'make' operation. After two make operations, even without any change to settings, the backup settings file will be the same as the project settings file. To keep backups of project settings consider saving them outside of the project.'

Both save choices checked.

SaveOnMake is true in defaults.jap

Oh well, I removed all of jAlbum and installed and configured it again, just to be sure.

Solves the problem.

Glad to hear it! These kinds of mysteries are always puzzling. A damaged installation should mess up a lot of things, not just one feature. But that's what happens!

If the project settings aren't saved after a make operation, then you can re-open that project in jAlbum and click the asterisk icon in the lower-left corner. You'll now get a popup dialog that allows you to revert to the settings last used.
