Hi there,

Using Tiger , when I set thumbnail size tp 160x160 it actually seems to double the size: 320x320
(I save as on my computer and the size is changed) .
same thing with 124x124 it becmes 248x248.
could not find a post directly connected.
Thank you.

See Settings > Images > Advanced > HiDPI thumbnails. If that is checked, the thumbnails are actually twice the size specified in the thumbnail image bounds. They're still displayed within the bounds you have set. This takes slightly more storage space, but the thumbnails look much better on a high-resolution display.

Thank you very much Jeff for the quick response. Yes indeed I set HiDpi thumbnails after reading that it was better .Not sure I understand "they are still displayed withing the bounds you have set".

Say you set the thumbnail image bounds at 200x200. That will create thumbnails that are actually 400x400. But when you view the page, the thumbnails will be shown as 200x200 (plus or minus some small adjustments the skin makes, to get a uniform layout).

But on a high-resolution device, with more physical pixels, the thumbnails will appear much sharper.
