It's been 2 years since I last updated the portions of my website that uses the minimal skin. In the past, I've been able to locate the tool bar above the slide image and the comments section below the slide image. Now, no matter what I do in the settings, the toolbar and comments section overlay the top and bottom of the image. Before and after examples are attached. I haven't uploaded the revised version of this particular album and won't do so until I figure out this problem. Does anyone have an idea as to what I'm doing different than in the past? Thanks for any comments. Thanks.

The skin has been modified, last time in 2022, version 8.5.0.
Did you make your old album with a different version of the skin?

In Minimal, I don't think there's any way to do that now. You're not doing anything different - the skin has changed.

But Minimal was never really intended to a be a skin for making albums. It was thought of just as a launching spot for new skin development, with only a few fragments of settings options. These days, it's no longer useful for that - skin development is largely beyond what most hobbyists can tackle, because the expectations for modern page layout are so much more extensive. IMO, Minimal should be retired entirely.

If you want a simple skin that does, in fact, keep the captions off the images, try Atom.

I hadn't thought about it in a while, but in fact, all of my skins always keep the captions clear of the images. There's usually an option to have previous/next arrows appear on the image when hovering, but even that can always be avoided.

What matters are the photos, and nothing else should interfere. Call it a fetish of mine. ;)

Thanks for your reply. I just tried Atom, but there doesn't seem any way to link the slide image to the original. When I click on the "link to origins via scaled images" in settings, it reverts back to "link to scaled down images only" after I click on make album and preview. Does Atom not include this option the way Minimal does? Thanks.

Sounds like you're using an obsolete version of jAlbum - those "link to" options are long gone. With current jAlbum and current Atom, it works just fine. See screenshots.

Once again, thank you for your reply. Will one of the updated Jalbum version still work with Windows 7? Thanks.

Oh, dear. The short answer is "no." But Win7 is over 16 years old. MS dropped all support for it over 5 years ago.

Time to move on.
