I've written a extension that imports images from Google Photos to jAlbum. Just double-click the attached GooglePhotosImporter.jaext file to add it to jAlbum, then restart jAlbum. You can now find this extension under the "Add" button and via File->Import.

The importer imports images and corresponding metadata like titles, descriptions, GPS coordinates, user comments and likes (makes 5-star ratings in jAlbum). Whenever possible, jAlbum uses the portable xmp format to embed the metadata within the images. HEIC images are optionally converted to the more portable JPEG format.
