calendar date display

How can I suppress/avoid the display of the clendar dates in front page and files in the tiger skin/white?

You'll have to be more specific than that. Exactly where are you seeing dates displayed, when you don't want them? Give us screenshots.

In Tiger, the content of almost all captions and headers is controlled by various "Caption" settings, but we need to know which one is involved here.

Open the Settings / Tiger / Help / Glossary, and you'll find the links to all the various caption templates there. Click the relevant and select a caption template that does not contain the "Date".

Perfect! That's one of the easier ones to change. See the attached screenshot. Just choose one of the choices that doesn't include the date, like Title + comment.
