I have been tasked with taking over a web site that includes a jAlbum photos directory.

The site, as was previously set up, has (for example) a directory labeled "2023-Photos". There are also, within the 2023-Photos" directory, other directories, labeled 2023-Photos-Holiday-Party" and "2023-Photos-Picnic" and "2023-Photos-Museum-Visit" and so on.

If you go to that "2023-Photos" directory it has an html.index file which has thumbnails linking to the various directories.

I have tried mightily but have not been able to duplicate that effort. I can create a jAlbum and upload and view it. But I do not know how to create situation where there is a "2024-Photos" directory that includes an index.html file which contains thumbnails that link to the various directories inside "2024-Photos".

I am using the free version of jAlbum, do I have to use the paid version to get that functionality?

Also I am uploading to our own server.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Presumably you have access to the 2023 project, so you could examine how that is structured. If not but you have the url of the album you can try downloading the project files (no images though) go the the root of the album "2023-Photos" and change 'index.html' to lifeboat.zip. Then you can get the structure of the project, the settings file (which will only partly work on the free version).

Or have a look at the Sample Portfolio project that has three subfolders, Nature, Architecture and People. If you add subfolders to each of them and place some files inside the subfolders the links from the top level will automatically be made.

When you navigate through the album you will see a link to the subfolder. Some skins do not show empty folders, others do, so make sure each folder has at least one image.

In the free version you can only change the skin (Plain, Tiger etc.) and the style (white, black/dark etc.)

Moving to the general forum as it is a question rather than a tip.

Just as a test, create a new project. Add a dozen images to it. Now click New folder, just above the thumbnails in the Explore view. Give the folder a name, and then drag some of the images into it. I think you'll get the idea pretty quickly.

That said, the free version is a seriously crippled little beast. You won't be able to do much with it. I've also thought that it's a very poor introduction to jAlbum, unlikely to entice people into buying a regular license.

The full version has a 30 day money back guarantee, probably better trying it and if not to uplate’s taste get in touch by email: helpdesk@jalbum.net

Yeah, that did the trick, the clicking on the New Folder part.

I think you'll get the idea pretty quickly.
That did happen.

Thanks to those who replied, it is appreciated.
