Which video format
Posted: 7 Dec 24, 19:39

Attachment Untitled-1.jpg (218.0 KB)
I'm having an issue with videos I'm trying to include in an album. I load them into the album without issue and then make the album but when I try to preview the video it wont play. It does however say ' incorrect format '.
Can you tell me please what is the appropriate format as the videos I'm posting are MP4.

Many Thanks.

What browser are using to view the album? And which version of that browser?

The message about needing Flash is a red flag. The Flash format died entirely almost five years ago. No current browser would be tossing up a message like the one in your screenshot.

Can you make available for download the original video? A link to any cloud service will do if the file is too large for the forum.

Curiouser and curiouser. That error message is such a relic, it's difficult to figure out where it's coming from.

A couple of threshold questions....

Which skin are you using?

And are you letting jAlbum process the video? In other words, are you marking the video Do not re-encode or Use original?

This problem will likely go away if you download v36.1 beta from here: https://jalbum.net/forum/thread.jspa?threadID=60032&tstart=0

Perhaps, but I still want to know what piece of software is tossing up a warning that tells the user to get the Flash plugin.

This seems to have solved the issue. I'm still no wiser why it threw up such an old error message but delighted that its working.

Thank you all for the kindness and help.

Just one remaining question, for my own curiosity: which skin are you using?

I think that might explain the weird error message. The integrated browser component would be unlikely to do so. When it can't play a video for some reason, it just fails to play the video. I've never seen it put up any sort of text warning.

The message doesn't come from the skin; it's a browser message.

But what browser would still be telling users to install a Flash plugin?
