"Preview" only available when the build process finished
Posted: 10 Dec 24, 19:00

Hi,

there is one thing which makes me crazy from time to time. When I start compiling a big project (several thousand objects) the first time, the "<Preview> button will be available when the whole project has been processed. But this can take several hours. What I do to workaround this situation is to cancel the compile process, start it over again, and voilĂ , the <Preview> is available and works perfect.

So, why do we have to wait until the end of the compile process, when we are compiling the projects the first time? Is there a good reason?

Why wait more than 2 hours?

Thanks in advance. Markus

It only 'appears to work' as you have not looked deep into the album. When you cancel the make album the make process is still going on in the background (I'd say that was a bug as it hasn't actually been cancelled). Try cancelling and then immediately quitting jAlbum, reopen the project and then try previewing it - it will be a broken album, if it is as big as yours.

Really odd. This background processing in spite of hitting the abort button seems to happen on v36.1 beta only (for me), but I cannot see what change I could possibly have done. I haven't been poking with the core in v36.1. The problem also appears if you run jAlbum on Java 14, so it isn't that we've moved to Java 23.

Anyway, I've adjusted the code to abort better. Now it seems to behave. Test by replacing your lib/jalbum-core.jar with this one: https://jalbum.net/download/beta/jalbum-core.jar

Pause process now fixed. Marking assumed answered as the full preview is only available after the make album has finished.
