Control Menu is missing

Attachment Jalbum-sample.jpg (111.4 KB)
The main Control Menu on top, to advance, go back, go full screen, or exit, is now missing.
. . it was there earlier today and in past on my projects

I am still fumbling and tripping on the confusing Setting menu layout, trying to do minimal tweaks to avoid the Download option or Photo Data or Map location... and somehow the primary menu on top is missing.

Plus am not able to get the mini-thumbnail preview bar on bottom, to show.

And the Slideshow 'play' icon arrow on main page top, no longer works either.

See sample image attached, lacking all menus and buttons.

Am using the Tiger skin and it was updated mid-efforts today, and the menu was there before hand, but not sure if that update is issue or my setting changes. Is there a setting to NOT show the Control Menu (which leaves you stuck on any image you open, no exit out).

When I use the 'Preview' option in jAlbum, the control bar and preview bar are there.
When I click on the Index file to test in Chrome or Firefox, on Windows 10 PC, these are missing.

Note: first posted in 'General' forum but told to move here, so is a report.

thanks in advance,
Frolin

The answer remains the same. You are attempting to preview the album by opening the index.html file from Windows File Explorer. This will not work.

Please read the link I posted originally.

ETA: And I meant that if you had other issues with the operation of the control bar, you should post them in this forum section. Your original question is not skin-specific, and can be cured by following the instructions provided.

In your reply to my original post, you said...
= "It sounds like you're trying to do a local preview by clicking the index.html file from File Explorer. With Laza's skins, that won't work."

For a person not yet familiar with wording and labels of jAlbum, that simply says...
= With Laza's skins, that won't work.

. . . guess need to learn the terms here, as to what Laza means

What I gather should have been said is...
= You can not test jAlbum index.html files locally in a browser, locally.

For some of us, this means an annoying need to upload every draft to the web, to get a real 'preview' of what things look like. Especially annoying when learning how the application works and testing various options.

No. Laza's skins are the ones that are bundled with jAlbum, and most of them (but not all) use a type of Javascript technology that can't be previewed locally.

Other skins, e.g., all of mine, do not have the same limitation.

Again, please read the sticky thread to which I referred earlier. It explains all of this. I'm not willing to repeat all of it.

NO IT DOESN'T. The sticky thread explains, very clearly, how to do local previews with these skins.

If you won't read the answers that are available, I don't know how I can possibly help you.

When you have jAlbum open and are previewing the album copy the path shown in the address bar. Now paste that into the address bar of other browsers you want to view your album in.

The alternative is as Jeff said, use a different skin unless you want the complexity offered by Tiger.

I am Laza, and I made most of the bundled skins and a few others. The skins are using JSON databases, which are blocked by the operating system when accessed from the file system. They work fine when you use the Preview (F12) in jAlbum, which serves the pages through a built-in web server. You don't have to upload anything; most users don't even notice these pages come through a web server. If you want to test a web page reliably and see what your visitors see, you must do it through a web server, as local file systems have different security rules and handle file names differently from web servers.
