Improvement for edited images

It seems to me that currently, nothing indicates that an image has already been edited, whether in the Explore tab or in the Edit tab.

On the other hand, when I want to cancel the modifications made to an image, I always have trouble finding the appropriate context menu entry: Image tools | Remove. What is annoying is that we do not have access to the context menu in the Edit tab (a right click only changes the zoom level).

What would be nice would be to add a button to the Edit toolbar, which would be grayed out if an image has not been modified, and that would allow to remove the changes if the image has been modified.

Not an answer but it might help to find things. The glossary has entries that will help find the image tools contextual menu, either via C or more directly by I

The Explore view tells you which images have been edited. See screenshot. In the Edit mode, choosing any of the editing tools shows you whether that edit has been applied (with the odd exception of the Effects tool), and what the chosen values are.

A little dangerous. A user might have taken a lot of effort to crop, level, adjust colors, adjust gamma, adjust contrast, etc., etc. One careless click could remove all of that, and it's not saved anywhere. The existing edits can all be removed one at a time, of course, but a method for clobbering all of them at once should be a little tougher to get to.

Oh, thanks :)

When you're editing a batch of images by switching between them with the right/left arrows, it's not really practical to have to click on each of the buttons just to know if the effect is active or not.

As in many deletion/removal cases, a confirmation dialog is always welcome :-)

Don’t know how easy/difficult it would be but for an edited image a split view, showing the original on the left and edited on the right would let you see at a glance the difference, and thus the type of editing made. You might not want to remove all of the editing, just certain aspects of it.

A split view sounds like a good idea.

In edit mode, you know right away if an image has been edited by the state of the undo/redo buttons. (Undo is enabled if edits have been made)

I hadn't realized that, thanks for the tip :-)

An idea came to me about the undo button: when it is enabled and you hover it, it would be great if a tooltip would display the list of edits made (a sort of summary of the edit stack). This way, it would be easy to know what changes were made to an edited image without changing the jAlbum UI.

Would this be possible in a future version?

Yes, that's a good idea. I put it onto the todo list.
