Mercury: Excluding image used for theme banner deletes that image
Posted: 20 Jul 24, 08:32

Tearing my hair out trying to update my album which use the mercury skin. When I choose a theme image for a particular page in the album I can drop a file in the theme image box and it will use that file. I have dropped the image I am using for the theme on the page and jalbum would include it in the album if it is not excluded. Excluding the .jpg image used to make the theme image and/or the the me-theme.jpg deletes them immediately and goes back to default of using the thumbnail image for the theme.

It's only doing this on one or two folders of images, it works as expected on other pages/folders in the album. I'm thinking something may be corrupted in the files jalbum is using for this page of the album. I tried closing the project, deleting the .jalbum folder and opening up again hoping it would re-write the files, but it does the same thing - anything that I exclude is immediately deleted.

I'm guessing this is skin related as the theme image is part of the page design.

Appreciate any tips on getting to the bottom of this. I'm guessing I could try uninstalling and re-installing jalbum and/or the skin, or perhaps delete all of the jalbum generated files so it build them all again from scratch?

Correct

Wrong guess. A skin has almost no ability to affect anything that's happening in the Explore view - it's largely "forbidden territory." It's purely the province of the jAlbum core.

The sequence:

1. Add the image to the project.
2. Exclude the image (don't delete it).
3. Drag the now-excluded thumbnail to the Theme image box.

If you reverse steps 2 and 3, you'll have problems!
