Some folders skipped, not generated, missing in preview
Posted: 1 May 24, 01:09

In JAlbum 22 when I run "make album" some of the folders and subfolders do not show after F12 preview is opened. It seems to be random. For example (see attachment picture) folder 2005-2010 is not visible and folders 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009,2010 are not shown either. Sometimes small changes like changing theme image or caption edit and regenerating album brings them back but some are still missing. Also double clicking on those folders in jAlbum Explore window doesn't work. I am really puzzled, any ideas?

Make sure you have not chosen Settings > Advanced > General > Process only updated subdirectories.

But you're using a version of jAlbum that's over three years old, which is an eternity in the IT world, so there's a limited amount of help that will be available.

I understand that this is older version...it was OK for many years. I recreated all folders and "Process only updated subdirectories" was not checked then I run fresh "make albums" and preview was still missing random folders. Is there a way to get error log?

Press F7 in jAlbum to see the error log after a Make.

This is the most bizarre aspect of this. When this happens, try opening the image directory - Tools, Open directories, Image directory - and navigating to the "missing" folder. Are the images listed there?

When it comes to puzzling preview results, make sure of the following:

Clear your browser cache. Just hitting F5 won't do the job. In Chrome, for example, you should open the browser, click the three dots at upper right, choose Clear browsing data, check Cached images and files (only), then Clear data.

Make sure you haven't inadvertently hidden or excluded folders. In the Explore view, they look different from each other:

Finally, make sure you're doing the preview using the jAlbum embedded server - just opening the index.html file from the operating system won't work with a JSON-driven skin like Tiger:

Thank you for the explanation and hints with cache, it solved the problem but your advise not to use three years old version caused me to get the newest 34.3 version...lol.

I'm glad that fixed things for you! :)

Of course, using the newest version of jAlbum will make you healthier, smarter, and irresistible to attractive lovers. This is not widely known. ;)
