Copy, save, or print QR code. Why?

I guess I'm missing something. When you use the phone previewer, it makes the album available on a virtual server. Very handy.
But the URL, of course, points to an IP address that's visible only if you're on the same network. No one from the public side of your router can access it. And when you close jAlbum, that address turns into a pumpkin, even if you've chosen Keep open.
So, the middle four options (screenshot) are a bit of a mystery. Why would anyone ever want to copy the URL, or copy, save, or print the QR code? Of what use would that be?

When I try the phone previewer, I get a QR code and an address of 192.168.1.152 which leads to a blank page that says "Safari couldn't open the page because the server stopped responding." I could save the QR code, but for what purpose?
I'm using Win10 desktop to make the album and one of those fancy new iPhone13 minis.
Now if I could embed a useful QR code in the published album it may be convenient for sharing. For example, if someone viewed my album on my desktop and wanted the link, perhaps they could scan a QR code and not type in the URL. Yes, I could copy and email them the address or I might go to QR.io, generate a code, save it and email or embed that, etc, etc.
Whatever, it seems we might be able to make better use of a QR code than is now being done.

I think this is a case of common code being used. The contextual menu options are of more use for a published album rather than the local one. You can only get the QR code for the published album by shift clicking on the 'published' spyglass icon, the menu item Album>Preview gives just a local preview.

I suppose that makes at least a little more sense. But there's a fundamental disconnect here. You never see QR codes on websites, and there's an obvious reason for that.
If I'm looking at a web page on my desktop computer, why would I want to pick up my phone and point it at a QR code to visit some other website? I'd want just a regular clickable link or thumbnail.
If I'm looking at a web page on my phone, a QR code is of no use to me. How would I point my camera at it? Again, a tappable link is what's needed.
The same logic applies to including a QR code in an email or text message - it's pointless.
QR codes make sense only on other media - a printed sign, a magazine, an advertisement on TV, etc. So being able to copy it or save it isn't of much utility.

Sometimes I quickly show my galleries to friends and they often want to grab the gallery URL to view later. In this case, I usually use album sharing by email because I want to share the gallery only with them. Also, if they are 2, 3 or more, it's a bit annoying.
If I could display a QR code embedding the URL, my friends would only have to scan it with their phone: we show the QR code only once, and everyone scans it, no matter how many people there are. It would be much more efficient and faster than sharing by email.
IMHO, a QR code would be a good candidate for a new way to share a gallery! 
Note: I'm using the Tiger skin, I'm not sure if the sharing features are provided by Tiger or by jAlbum itself. |

I can see how it might be useful for that kind of "phone-to-phone" sharing. But I think the better way to do that is to install one of the apps that cranks out a QR code for whatever website you happen to be visiting, not just a jAlbum album.
In fact, it's built in to the Chrome phone browser - there's a "share" button, and one of the options that pops up is for a QR code. No parallel in Brave, Firefox, or Safari, however. |

Yeah, but this illustrates exactly what I'm talking about.
I'm viewing your post on my desktop. You've given me a link that I can't click on. I have to pick up my phone, open the camera app, point it at the QR code, and then get taken to the site on my phone. Why would I want to visit the site on my phone, rather than on the PC that's sitting right in front of me?
And if I'm reading your post on my phone, I can't point my camera at the QR code. So, useless there, too.

Me, me, me  YOUR PC, YOUR PHONE. Think your PC and someone else's phone. Say you're in a library (bar, stadium, park, etc) looking at an album. A stranger walks by and says "what a nice album, can I get a link to it?" You say "sure I'll email you the link." They say they don't give out their email to strangers. They then say, "no problem, I'll just scan the album's QR code." And you say . . .
BTW, the single QR code above (I think) links to Google's Gemini response to "what websites embed a QR code?" |

If you're using Chrome, problem solved. Three dots, Save and share, then Create QR Code.
I just don't think there's a reason for jAlbum to reinvent the wheel.
