New images dates consistency

Hello,

I use the functions to flag new images with a star as well as the Newimages.htt template to generate a page with new images only.

From time to time, I have inconsistencies in my new images page, as shown in the attached screenshot: some new images have no stars or some starred images are missing in this page. :-(

Why? simply because I sometimes change the settings for new images (number of days and/or date reference), in one place and forget the others. Keep in mind that there are possibly 3 different parameters that must have the same values to have a consistent behavior: Skin / Mark new files, Sections / Check for new images and the Newimages.htt template. If only one of them is used, there is no problem, but if you use 2 or 3, inconsistencies may occur...

In a future version of Tiger, when we modify one of these parameters, it would be nice to have a warning that tells us if the number of days or the reference are not consistent. Another way to avoid these problems would be to centralize somewhere the number of days and the reference in a unique way, then to reuse these parameters where needed (including in *Newimages.htt*). :-)

These functions were created independently to serve similar functionality in different ways. I didn't foresee users will combine them. Now I don't think using the same date range would be ideal, as some might already use these functions with different date ranges on purpose.

You can set the skin dates to a common value and then save as Tiger defaults. That leaves just the template. You could use the notes field to enter your number of days for new items. Then either save as default or save an empty project, with the latter you can duplicate it to start any new project.

You're right :-) That said, I think the stars go very well with the 'New Images' template or searching for new images. However, the latter two are redundant and I don't believe it's useful to use them together. This is only my opinion, which reflects my use of jAlbum.

Thanks Rob for these tips! This is a way of proceeding which can avoid the problems that I encountered.
