Wish: Additional info text popup

Hello,
I have created a wild bee album for entomologists with jAlbum, which I would never have done without jAlbum. Thank you very much.
It is a kind of identification guide and I would like to add additional text information to the pictures. This would be a very important feature for the further development of the website and could be useful for many jAlbum users. For example, it could be extensive information about the picture, a kind of diary or scientific info.
I would like to be able to refer to similar species in the text and preferably add a link to the jAlbum images of similar species.
Attached is an edited screenshot showing an additional info button at the beginning of the current info field. The idea is that the user clicks somewhere on the info field and a popup window with the text overlays the current view.
I know that this would be an extensive extension of jAlbum and would be happy if it could be realized in the near future.
Best regards,
Micha

If a tooltip would do, you can use this in the thumbnail caption template:
<div class="title<ja:if exists=" imageInfo"> icon-info" data-tooltip title="<div><%= imageInfo.replaceAll('"', '\"') %></div>"> </ja:if><ja:else>"></ja:else><strong>${fileLabel}</strong></div>
<p class="comment">${comment}</p>
Then add the info as "imageInfo" variable in Edit mode / Variables.
The highlighting somewhat changes the code, e.g there's no space before "imageInfo"

Something like this, perhaps.

Off-topic, but I find it interesting that you want to bring visitors to your site, but there's no link to the album on your profile page here. SEO involves getting links to your site on high-traffic sites like this one.

In general, I would like to stay with "Tiger".
EDIT: I tried the tags system now and setup a tag. It looks promising. But I don't see the description. Is only the Name text shown?
Yes, Jeff, your example shows well how it could work. If possible, this would be nice in the image overview as well, but it's fine at image level.
It's not my main goal to make the website known, because it's quite special, but if it works, that's nice too. Thanks for the tip Jeff.

In general, I would like to stay with "Tiger".
My demo is just "proof of concept," quickly cobbled together manually. It's not actually built into the skin, though doing so wouldn't be too difficult, since all of the pieces of the puzzle are already there.
If possible, this would be nice in the image overview as well, but it's fine at image level.
I've encountered this before, and I think it's a design mistake. To me, the thumbnail page should just be a brief introduction to the images, with the thumbnails providing handy links to the real material. I generally don't put any captions at all on the image thumbnails, and usually not even tooltips. Folder thumbnails are a different matter, since the visitor really does need to know where those thumbnails are going.
I know another user (who shall remain nameless, but he knows who he is ) who wants to see everything on the thumbnails: title, full comment, image counter, download icon, Google map icon, length of the video, etc., etc. But at that point, why bother having slide images at all? Just make the thumbnails big, and be done with it.
Alternatively, use one of the skins that has no thumbnail page, per se - just slide images, with all of their extra "stuff."
The biggest lack, at present, is a convenient way for the user to enter the "more info" text for each image. David and I are having a little back-channel email exchange about that....

I did some more tests with the image tag system and I'm not sure it can be used. Some problems:
- a new tag is created for every image tag and shown at the tag list of the album
- the description text isn't shown
- the visibility of the tag area isn't the best, a half transparent background color could be good
and there is a little "bug", the Tiger tag buttons has the tooltip "Show tagged people" always.
But in general it's going in the right direction - an info button shows an additional text field.

In my case the image view is more like a detailed view and not needed always. If you look at a folder of a bee type like "Adrena.." than you see different Andrena type "cards". If the user like to see the description for this type it's not necessary to open the photo in single view. The user could easier compare descriptions in folder view. OK, if a photo is opened, than the user should get access to the description too.

You can skip empty tags, an option on the same Tiger settings tab.
See the attached for how I included the description in Journal skin. The description shows when hovering over the tagged area, an option to show the description is also below the link to the region.
In my version there is also an option to make the region a link to another image.
It just shows what is already possible.

Thank you RobM.
"Description" does not seem to work for Tiger. But I think with the tags system in general it won't work, an info system would be a more solid solution.
