Uploading jAlbum to my personal website created with WordPress
Posted: 12 Apr 23, 22:05

Several years ago I created my personal website (efsowell.us) using WordPress. It's mostly family photo albums created with jAlbum. Then the hosting service I was using went belly up so I moved it to SiteGround. That introduced many broken links.

I'm hoping there's someone in this forum who can point me in the right direction. To start the discussion, is this a proper address? Note that public-html is the prescribed SiteGround web root:

//https/efsowell.us/public-html

On most web hosts, public_html is the web root. But it's never part of the URL to view the contents of the web site.

Say you've created an album about your dog, Sparky. You would upload it to a subdirectory under public_html like public_html/sparky. The address of that album, the URL that you would give others, would be:

https://efsowell.us/sparky/

I was already aware that public-html must be omitted since it is implied

You asked if //https/efsowell.us/public-html was a proper address. It isn't.

What did you do to setup your site with the new provider?

You mentioned Wordpress, and jalbum albums.

Do you have a backup of files and Wordpress database?
If not, you will have to install Wordpress fresh and add your pages.

I can not find an archived version of your website on archive.org.

Consider using the jalbum bridge to integrate jalbum albums.

Or use a skin like Story to build a new website.

Actually, my daughter did the migration. She's been busy lately so I don't want to take up too much of her time. Also, while she's an expert WP user but not a jAlbum user. She suggested I switch to a WP photo album plugin but I'd rather to stick with jAlbum.
