Projector - Strange behavior for image transition with build-in browser

Hello Laza,

Sorry to bother you once again with some issue on the Projector skin ... right away on January 1st ;-)!

There is a possible issue related to image transition which has been introduced in the 3.10.x release you have given me to solve the comment display regression. This issue seams to be valid on a PC only when using the build-in browser of jAlbum:
  • Now you get a "fickering" during the image transition, between the previous image and the current image, i.e. the previous image gets displayed during the transition time almost without fading, although it shoudn't.
  • I tested with the transition parameter set to "zoom" (my default setting) and few others.
  • This is especially visible (and problematic) when you switch from an horizontal to a vertical photo.
  • So far I didn't noticed this issue on a PC when using Chrome or Edge, neither on an Android smartphone when using Chrome.
  • I don't remember having seen that in earlier jAlbum & Projector releases?

Hence this is a low priority issue, just in case this may "hide" something else?

It is supposed to be the same with the older skin, as nothing has changed regarding the transitions.

Please note, the built-in browser is an old browser, with poor support of modern HTML and CSS standards. Users should never use that, as it gives the impression the generated albums are broken.

Since the built-in browser is useless, why in the world is it still available?

OK, thanks Laza.
We can just discard this behavior of the build-in browser of jAlbum.

The build-in browser of jAlbum is not useless, but I agree it would be good to update it ;-).

I am using it for quick checks (order of images, presence of image comment, etc...) prior downloading.

It's a third-party product, and there doesn't seem to be any development work taking place on it, so an update is unlikely. If you're just using it for a quick layout check, it's mostly reliable (though not entirely - I've seen it mangle some thumbnail layouts). The problem is that users see something wrong, then report it as a skin bug. So, skin developers hate it. ;)

There is a much more full-featured JavaFX browser available, but it's a real browser. That means that it's standards-compliant. But it's also just as large as Chrome. That raises a question - does it make sense to bundle a full browser with jAlbum, when virtually every jAlbum user already has a modern browser on his machine?

I just stick with my default browser (Brave), and hit F9 then F12. That does mean that I sometimes end up with many tabs open in the browser, but that's not really a problem. I could just hit F9, ALT-TAB, F5 (or CTRL-F5, just to be sure).

Uploading. When you move something from your PC to a server, you are uploading. When you grab software from the jAlbum site and bring it to your PC to install it, you are downloading. Your PC is at the bottom of the food chain.
