UI Refresh Issues

I've noticed that the UI will frequently have issues refreshing entirely and looks like the attached as a result...

Things worked okay since updating to 28.1.5 but as soon as I changed the sort order on a folder, the UX went poof and started refreshing only parts of the window...

Check it out on the screenshot I attached. Relaunching and changing the sort order back to JAlbum specified did not correct the issue.

I have literally never seen anything even remotely like that.

ETA: This looks more like a graphics driver problem, probably having nothing to do with jAlbum at all.

I thought so too, but I'm running N-1 stable on my NVIDIA 3080 and have zero issues on any other app/game/etc. This only happens with jAlbum.

None of my other Java apps ever experience this either.

Only JAlbum.

This is a real longshot, but open the program directory, edit the jAlbum.ini file, and add this flag to the Virtual Machine Parameters:
-Dsun.java2d.d3d=false
If this works, I'll take the rest of the day off. ;)

In some religions, a miracle of this magnitude would give rise to a multi-day festival.

Very funny Jeff. true!
and for what it's worth, I've not had an issue since adding the flag!

Java seem to be using somewhat different API calls to the underlying graphics drivers which causes graphic driver problems to only manifest in Java programs. The problem is either with the specific graphics driver or a general Java problem. If it's the latter, then Oracle should be very well aware of it. We soon plan to move to Java 18 once we sort out performance issues with the GraalJS JavaScript engine, then perhaps these issues will be gone. In either case, let your graphics driver manufacturer know about this issue. It's at least not jAlbum specific as Java programs are insulated from the hardware.
