New skin feature, old skin feature

The skin repository should probably have a new checkbox for Plays audio clips.

At the same time, it's time to remove Uses Javascript. This isn't really useful as a skin-selection criterion (why would someone want to see only those skins?), and almost every skin uses JS, anyway.

There is a checkbox now that reads Plays Audio Files and has the same icon that is now used for signaling the new audio clips. I'm sure there will also be a few users that will wonder how that differs from Background Music. And for my $0.02, the new feature in v28.0 is not so much the playing audio but the ease of original recording and or attaching audio files to individual images. (I'm thinking of an English comment but a French audio clip)

I agree on ditching javascript. It might actually turn off more people than it might bring in thinking (INCORRECTLY) javascript could have some evil software buried in it.

Agreed. These are three things that are very different to a skin developer, but to a user, are all just variations on a theme. Maybe we should just decide that Plays Audio Files means that the skin can either take an MP3 as an AO in and of itself, or as an audio clip that's attached to a JPG. Background music is sufficiently different that it can perhaps retain its own checkbox.

Well, sometimes it does. Depends on who's developing the skin. ;)

In this rare instance, mrag is right. Users don't really get the subtle difference between Plays audio files and Plays audio clips. Let's just let the existing checkbox do double duty. Updating my skin listings....

This one should go. Its time is long gone.

The Uses Javascript checkbox has now been consigned to the dustbin of history.

Thanks, Anders! :)
