You have to check the box! See annotated screenshot.

Installing a new skin version should never clobber any default settings or individual album settings. Tough to imagine how that could have happened.

Thank you for your reply, Jeff. I'm glad the fix was so easy. How often does that happen? In my defense, I did consult the Jupiter User Manual. About that checkbox it says.

"Map link if GPS coordinates: If selected, and if GPS coordinates are available in the EXIF or XMP metadata of the image file, a globe icon is displayed..."

None of my pictures have embedded coordinates. I added them all manually through jAlbum. So I read that and moved on. In retrospect, I should have at least tried checking the box. Perhaps you could update that entry to say something like, "...if GPS coordinates are available either in the EXIF or XMP metadata of the image file or through having been entered manually through jAlbum, a globe icon..."

As for my configuration settings being wiped, I assure you they somehow were. That's how this checkbox got unchecked. But here's maybe a clue. After upgrading both jAlbum and Jupiter, I discovered that the Image directory setting in the jAlbum configuration had gotten an "album" subdirectory tacked on to the end. Thus it read "G:\Flying Club 1\Web Site\My jAlbum\jAlbum\*album*. And, indeed, my files were under "album". To correct this I went into jAlbum and deleted the "album" subdirectory from that setting. A bit to my surprise, all my files were moved up a level and the site continued to work. That's a bit of clever dancing on jAlbum's part. Could that have been where it left my Jupiter settings behind? I have no idea, really, but perhaps it will be a useful clue.
