Displaying Album from Output Directory
Posted: 9 May 20, 16:01

Attachment jalbum.png (55.7 KB)
When I try and display my album by clicking on the index.html file in the Output Directory it brings up an error see image. I am using Firefox on Linux Mageia7 with both Adblocker and HTTPS everywhere disabled. What I want to do is put the album on a cd to send to a relative.

You are using a skin with Json files, local access is not allowed, it needs to be viewed via a server.

You could try the suggest in https://jalbum.net/forum/message.jspa?messageID=335311#335311
See running Chrome from the command line, don’t know if it still works though.

It looks like I will have to try something other than jAlbum if I want it to run from a cd/dvd.

It looks like I will have to try something other than jAlbum to view from a cd/dvd. I have noted that there are different results with different versions. With 20.0.3 I get the above error message but 15.4 the Folders and Thumbnails show o/k but the images don't.

The easiest solution is to not use one of Laza’s skins, almost all other skins don’t use Json files.

Not even "almost." The only skins that run from JSON files are Laza's.

The other thing to remember, here, is that most computers are now being sold without CD/DVD drives in them at all. That's a technology that is disappearing.

But he can replace it by an USB stick, which can be read by all modern PCs.

On any current Macbook, you'd need an adapter.

The point, which you seem to be missing, is that the entire industry is abandoning accommodation for devices that aren't internet connected. Software distribution is a good example - there are all sorts of things that you simply can't get without being online.
