Album with password

Hello everybody,
Would it be possible to insert a function that allows you to assign a password for the album project? This password could then be passed on to the people who should have access to it.
greeting

Do you mean a password protected album or password protected project?

Hello David,
both would be very interesting. a password-protected album would interest me more for the time being. A password-protected project would also be great. I can use both variants ...

If you're hosting your album on jalbum.net, you can easily password--protect it. Hover on the thumbnail on you profile page, choose Edit album, and set the password on the edit page.
If you're hosting your album anywhere else, there's nothing that jAlbum can do about password-protecting it. That has to be done at the level of the server operating system, so jAlbum can't get to it. And it's applied to the directory that the album is in, not to the album itself. Ask your web host how to password-protect a directory - there's usually an easy way to do it from the hosting control panel.
ETA: I'm not sure why you'd want to password-protect the project on your PC, unless you're sharing the PC with someone who might get into the project and make a mess of it!

I seem to have misunderstood the project ...
I thought you mean whether you encrypt a project or a single album.
When calling up on the Internet, I want a user to enter a password in order to gain access to a specific album of the project.

That's what we mean by password-protecting the album. Visitors to your site are not accessing the project - they're just looking at the album.
So ignore any comments about protecting the project, which is on your PC - that's not relevant to your question.

I differentiate as follows:
1. Project: Access to album via desktop program
2. Album: Access to album via internet (finished album)
3. Folder: a folder in the album via the Internet (finished album)
an album has several folders (sub-album)
It may well be that I have expressed myself incorrectly. Maybe I just got it wrong.
I want only one folder in an album to be password protected. Is this possible, if so how?

If you're hosting on jalbum.net, it is not possible to password-protect one folder within an album.
If you're hosting somewhere else, you would have to login to your hosting account, navigate to that folder, and put a password on it.
Think about file folders in a desk drawer. Say you don't want anyone to see what's in the "Bank Account" folder. There is nothing you can put into the folder to make it secret. The only way to protect that folder is to put it in a locked drawer of your desk.
Folders on the internet work the same way, and the only way to "lock the drawer" is to do it from your web host's control panel. jAlbum can't access your web host's server settings.
ETA: This works with a Tiger album, but in many skins, password-protecting one folder would result in a broken album. The album tries to show a folder thumbnail for each folder, but if one folder is locked, it can't get the folder thumbnail. So, the page above that folder would have a "broken image" in place of the folder thumbnail.

You CAN actually password protect a sub folder of an album hosted with jalbum.net:
1) Select Tools->Publish/Manage
2) Connect to your account
3) Select the folder or sub folder to password protect, then right click and select "Password protect"

Ah, never noticed that one before.
But still, because of the album problems it can create (and I haven't even mentioned things like searches), it's probably a bad idea.

Thank you for all the information. I took a look at my web hosting provider and found a good solution. Here I can also select a single subfolder without the thumbnail of the subfolder disappearing.
