Did you select the "Advanced" button in the toolbar of the uploader? That should reveal files and folders, not only folders. Now it should be possible to find the manifest.jmf file.
Nothing happens if I click the "Advanced" icon.

But in which directory is that file saved?

The manifest.jmf file is saved to the root album folder on the server. See jGromit's screen shot.

OK I see the manifest file. In some old albums I found this file in the output folder, so I thought this file was missing, but apparently you changed this.

But I have still problems with version 18: uploads which are aborted as described above en errors during Makes like this:

André. We've not made any changes to where the manifest file has been written. It's been written to the root of the album folder of the server, never to any local folder.

With regards to the ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException. This happens during album making, right? Please see if setting the logging level under Preferences to FINER and reattempting produces a proper stack trace. If not, please isolate if switching skin helps or try isolating the image(s) that's causing this error and attach one of those images.

André, If you do a core update now then you'll get v18.0.5. This version as an adjusted handling of the manifest files to ensure that you'll never end up with an outdated manifest file even if an upload is interrupted permanently due to IO errors. jAlbum now simply starts by deleting the manifest file after grabbing it at the beginning of an upload and then write back the updated manifest file at the end of the upload or if the upload is aborted by the user. The worst thing that can happen now is that the manifest can't be written, then jAlbum will revert to a manual comparison of the remote and local folder tree before uploading. Such uploads will initially take a bit more time, but jAlbum should never more upload already uploaded files.

OK I updated to version v18.0.5 and did an upload (but no new files were added) without problems.
But I have to make first a new walking to make new photos for a new sub-album, so that will take some time.
Edit:
New photos were added and uploaded without problems.
