Missing Comments (captions)

JA: After a recent Tiger update, my generated albums no longer display the comments. I have tried every option in Tiger for captions and they're just gone. I've searched the forum but haven't found any similar posts so I'm thinking it's, as usual, operator error, I just can't figure it out.

The gallery is here:

And I've attached my lifeboat file.

Thank you for your help and MOST excellent software.

Can't imagine how it happened - updating the skin wouldn't louse this up. Blame it on the PC Leprechauns™, who sneak onto your computer at night and engage in mischief.

In any event, there's no mystery. Take a look at ss005820 - that's telling the skin not to display any captions on the lightbox images. The fix is easy - in the Presets chooser above that field, choose one of the other options, then come back to the default one. The result should look like ss005821.

JG: I'm going to admit to being a dumbell...I don't see either of those "ssxxxx" files but I will assume those are slides.

And if I understand you correctly, you said to change the Preset in Tiger/Sections from one option back to default, (mine shows Title + Short Comment (default).) If that's the case, changing these two and fro then re-making the album, does not generate visible captions (comments).

Sorry for being an idiot but I'm still captionless.

They're to the immediate right of my avatar, and just above my post - just click on each of them.

There are three places where you might want to put captions - on the folder thumbnails, on the image thumbnails, and/or on the slide image. You're changing the setting for the thumbnail captions, which are under either Tiger > Sections > Folders or Tiger > Sections > Images. But you're not changing the setting for the slide captions. See Tiger > Lightbox > Info panel.

JG: See, I TOLD you I was a dumbbell <laughing>. I thought those two ref's were on my server and never THOUGHT to just LOOK UP! <still smiling over that one>

BUT, you solved my stupid problem via Tiger/Info Panel and of course, when I SAW that page, I remembered. Now I have captions again....THANK YOU!

Don't feel too bad. On more than one occasion, for example, I've been trying to sort something out with captions in someone's Tiger album, and have been mystified by why my caption template settings weren't taking effect, only to finally realize that I've been changing the folder thumbnail caption template, instead of the image thumbnail caption template. That's a mistake I've had to repeat only 5 or 6 times, but I think I've got it now.

JG: That DOES make me feel a little less stupid, thanks. :-)
