Request ‘search on username’ results order option with newest first

I did a search for all my bug reports which I created in the past.

I did get 87 entries, in an order which I don’t understand.

I like to see the results ordered in time, with the newest reports first.

What do I have to do to get that done?

Changed title to reflect actual question

Use your forum control panel, it will show all of your question with the newest first, or search the forums and change the sort order from relevance to date order.

Or just click "Your Questions" at the upper left. Those are always in descending date order.

The search function in the forum software won't let you sort by date if you search only by user name. If you search with some terms, it will, even if you also restrict it to one user name. Odd, but the forum software is not a jAlbum product, so it isn't going to change.

ETA: BTW, the forum admin console has some equally puzzling design choices. ;)

That helps only if there was a filter 'Bug reports', now I get to many messages.
or search the forums and change the sort order from relevance to date order.
I like to see all my bug reports, so I enter * in the search box. In that case there is no sort order field.

You can’t enter * on its own or as the first character in a search string

Yes I know that this is said in the documentation, but it is incorrect: after I enter * and next click the Search button I get all my problem reports, but entering nothing has the same effect.
Using anyother input will not give me all my reports.

I strongly doubt that will work, can you provide a screen grab of your search and results?

Oh, I see you are actually searching on your user name, not on subject contents, that will return all of your bug reports

Yes, but not sorted in time.

I have changed the title of your post to a request for a sort option on search results for username. This is something for Anca to respond to

Like I said, this is the way the forum software works. It is not something that Anders can change.

I doubt that this will be marked as closed or that further posts will not be forthcoming unless there is an official response from jAlbum, though hopefully I will be wrong.

Yes, you are right. We can't customize the forum more than what an end user can customize the jAlbum client... We can change the templates and somewhat the layout, but we can't change the functionality.

Is Jive Forum still an ongoing concern? Do they ever do updates?

I think their last update is probably 10 years old... They seem to be fully occupied with their enterprice solutions...
