Apologies if this is already posted - I searched but couldn't see anything related..
(I also couldn't see it as a feature in Turtle)

Suggestion is -- image ordering by "Shot Date" with the newest events first, BUT with the correct order within each day..
This is useful for single-day events (birthdays / presentations / concerts / ...)
where the order within the day is important.
(Photoshop Elements Organizer has something similar).

I'd be very interested If it is already provided in one of the Skins - or if there is anyone else who would find it useful.

I'm fairly certain that it's not available in any skin - in general, the jAlbum core takes care of organizing the images and folders. The skins are just along for the ride.

I don't recall anyone asking for it before, either. I suspect that most users who need to do something like that would just put each day into its own folder. Then they can tell jAlbum to sort by camera date, and just drag the folders into whatever order they need.

This is doable, although not fully automatic. Do like this:
Organize your images by day using View->Organize->"Group by date". Ensure that the date format is yyyy-MM-dd or MM-dd. To get the latest folder first, select View->Order by->Reverse name thereafter. Each generated "day" folder should already be organized by camera date.
