Thank You David ! :)

I use Win 10.
Since when jA uses Cromium ?
I described that jA by me opens dozens instances of Cromium.
I'll reinstall it ...

"could this be caused by some AV software"

I'll stop it for a while and give jA a chance. :)

Before you reinstall jAlbum, make sure you clear out the other leftover stuff:

https://jalbum.net/forum/thread.jspa?threadID=35746

For security, I haven't used anything other than the built-in Windows Security in well over a decade. Never had a problem. The add-on stuff doesn't help, and just slows down everything.

Since v36 (https://jalbum.net/software/release-notes)

If you do, ensure that there are no leftover files after the uninstall, then reinstall, but again, the thread dump didn't indicate a blocked UI thread. I appreciate if you can wait a bit more. It usually takes a few seconds for the Chromium engine to launch.

Hi, dear David !

Sorry, I can't reinstall Cromium, 'cause I don't have it.
I mixed it up with Chrom, LOL. :D

But I stopped AV app - with no effect - jA still freezes when I click on any "HTML editor" icon.

It also freezes when I use integrated or windowed preview, but not when I choose external browser.

It's not urgent (as work around I can use very, very old Dreamweaver), so enjoy a weekend ! :)

Greetings, Jerry

We're talking about reinstalling jAlbum. But don't just run the installer again - do a thorough uninstall, first, following the instructions in the thread I linked to, above. This problem has the earmarks of something that's being caused by bits and pieces of older chunks of Java code that are still hanging around.

Chromium is part of jAlbum today. It's the web browser engine we use for the integrated browser.

I saw nothing obviously wrong, looking at that thread dump. It simply seems that it takes a whole lot of time to read the binaries for Chromium into RAM (the processes are reading code as you hit dump threads).

There's however a great number of "Icon loading threads" (unrelated). I can reproduce that as well. There shouldn't really be more than 4 of those I believe. I'll look into that.

I've at least fixed the (actually) old bug with lots of "icon loader" threads being generated. If you do a core update, then you get v37.0.3, which has that fixed (Tools->External tools->"jAlbum core update")

Yes, that was an unrelated problem. I suspect that some security layer in your computer is blocking the loading of the Chromium binaries. What happens if you right-click jAlbum and select "Run as Administrator"? If you open security settings, can you see any trace of any security intervention? What security softwares are you running?

After a core update I started jA as an admin and tested it as an admin.
I tested it also with stopped antivir prog.

I'll send You security details per mail. :)
Thank You, Jerry

In task manager I see that jA opened 33 (thirty-three) Cromium instances.

Oh, now I see in firewall that Cromium is "peepsing home" everywhere: to adobe, google, and some other unknown IP addresses. Which I don't allow.

So, it's clear now:

Cromium is trying desperately to get connection and he don't give it up after couple of trials. I see thousands (!) of trials in FW log. And this causes somewhere kind of jam or overflow.

Please, don't give this as solution: "let Cromium pass trough FW", I wouldn't do it.
Just configure Cromium to work without internet connection.

Absolutely none of that stuff is still necessary, and it often just gets in the way.

Another correct hunch.

I'll try it again:

Dear Jeff, I let jA to do what it likes, because I trust You guys. :)
But hidden apps should not "phoning home" from background.

P.S. When You live Your home and You lock the door, is it called paranoia too ? ;)
