Yes, it's hard to believe, but we (more specifically I) have now actually been working on updating the Android app. Last update was released in 2015, so it's a but overdue... The major issue with the current app is that folders doesn't work with Android 12 and newer. But I have also made other minor improvements. These are the most prominent ones:
- Folders now work using Android 12 and higher.
- Higher resolution thumbnails. (Screens have much higher resolution now than in 2015.)
- Better fullscreen usage and handling of camera cut outs and screen navigation.
- Using the new Android Photo Picker. (It handles file permissions on its own.)
- Handling HTML in image captions. (Used to display the raw HTML.)
- New app icon.
- Updated libraries and SDK. (Requires at least Android 6, but targets Android 13.)
But there is no new functionality. The aim is that it should just work.
It is available here:
jalbum.net/download/android/jAlbum-beta_b82_v1.1.apk
You can use this QR-code:
(If you just need a short URL you can use
www.ac/a to get to it.)
You might have to allow installing software from "unsafe" locations.
But you are very welcome to try it and report any issue you encounter either in this thread on to support@jalbum.net. Please provide info about your device, Android version and possibly some screenshots.
The aim then is to release it to the public in the Android Play Store in mid August, unless major issues are discovered.
(I wanted to implement dark mode too, but ran out of time. Maybe in the 1.2 update in 2034...
