Retrieving Comments from comments.properties

I have quite an extensive album I've built fro a website and I'm re-structuring it and managed to lose a lot of comments I have entered previously. They are all sitting in comments.properties. files for each page. Is there a way to get jalbum to ingest these comments from the files?

I'm sure I've done it in the past, but seem to find anywhere to do it from. I have selected all the options for comment sources under settings - advanced- metadata. I see there is the option to import from an album rss file, however that doesn't seem to work, the RSS file has the comment in the form: <description> comment <description> for each image along with all the data. This seems to have been kept from an old version as the album doesn't seem to write RSS files when I make new pages.

Any tip to avoid re-entering all the old comments would be welcome.

Find attached my "jalbum-settings.jap" from a project which also uses comments from "comments.properties" files. My "jalbum-settings.jap" does not contain the skin specific parts. Just make a copy of your .jap file, delete the parts with "skin." and compare them with my file. Check which values are different. Try to adapt my settings.

Good luck.

Your license indicates you are using an older version of jAlbum. If under comment sources you see ‘xmp’ then ‘jAlbum (Text file)’, then deselect ‘xmp’.

The latest version of jAlbum has changed the priority to use jAlbum comments, if they exist, by default. See the latest wiki page, https://jalbum.net/help/en/jAlbum/Settings/Advanced#Metadata
