Search in Album question

Hi,

before switching from Zenphoto to jAlbum, I started a testphase. I'm using the Tiger skin, because search functionality is very important for me. In principle it works, but I have one question:

Is it possible to connect search strings via a boolean operator?

Example: I would like to search for pictures, that contain StringA and StringB in their title or description. Therefore, I would like to search for:

StringA AND StringB

Real world example: Luft AND AINH should show only one image, but show all Lufthansa images on my demo side: https://schulenberg.biz/Spottair/index.html

Try StringA und StringB if the album language is German.

Thanks for your answers, but the search function is definitly not working as supposed. Using the demo picture album linked above, will provide the following results:

1. Search for Airbus returns 12 images -> ok
2. Search for Airbus und Lufthansa returns 12 images (same as above) -> not ok
3. Search for Airbus and Lufthansa returns 12 images (same as above) -> not ok

At least option 2 or 3 should return only 3 images. Both languages are not working for me

Additional question:

How do I search for "hansa", so only for a substring. This happens often, if I don't know the complete search string "Lufthansa".

If have to admit, that my picture database contains 3000 picture and growing. This is why the search function is so important for me.

May be you want to try out how this could work? Please check on my webpage:

https://spottair.de/

This is the page, I intend to replace with jAlbum.

If you go to the searchfield, you can search for:

1. hansa AND fra returns all my Lufthansa pictures, taken in Frankfurt (Germany)
2. hansa AND fra AND 321 return only Lufthansa Airbus 321 pictures taken in Frankfurt (Germany)

So even concatenated search works. And exactly for this album, based in Zenphoto, I hoped, jAlbum could be an alternative.

I can't understand how searching for "hansa AND fra AND 321" could return images that do not contain "hansa".

Anyway, this search can only find words only at the beginning of a word, not in the middle. I believe searching middle strings returns lots of unrelated stuff. I tried it before but nobody liked that. Instead of "hansa" why don't you search for "luft"?

Another issue I see is that this search does not combine the fields in the conjunctive search. So searching for "Boeing und 737" returns 3 images, but "Boeing und 737 und KLM" returns none, even though this combination exists: https://schulenberg.biz/Spottair/Boeing/B737/index.html#img=2024-02-03%2010.58.16_2.jpg - it's just the KLM is in the comment, not in the title as the others. I will fix this.

I have updated the skin and now it can find terms in different fields for the conjunctive search.

Thank you, I will give it try this evening.

And, believe me, if you have 3000+ pictures in your database/album, you don't remember always the full name/searchstring.

I will come back with some feedback later

Ok, now it seems, the search function is not working at all. Can you please verify your change? Or, am I doing something wrong?

I need to be more precise: Search is inverse case sensitive ;-)

Searching for klm works
Searching for KLM doesn't, although KLM is provided in capital letters in the IPTC field

I would propose to remove any case sensivity from search.

And, just another proposal, because you mentioned, you've had instring search already implemented. May be you can provide this as an option in the Tiger settings?
