Hello ....

Setting up a small gallery for a local magazine. I am using the Plain skin. I would like to add an email link somewhere (in a footer say) so people can report any issues to me if they find any.

Can this be done? I am staring blankly at settings and have found nowt. Help! 8-)

Many thanks

JeffTucker

There's nothing in the settings to accommodate that. You could manually edit the output to insert that kind of link, but that's pretty clunky if the album has to be updated periodically.

Most other skins provide a simple mechanism for doing things like this. A quick example using Neptune, with a few options chosen to make it very stripped-down, like Plain:

There is a way you can do it in Plain, though it's a little obscure. In the Explore view, right-click somewhere not on one of the thumbnails, and choose New page.... Contact.htt. Drag the resulting thumbnail so that's the last object, after all the images. Double-click it, and enter your contact info in the first box.

Now, in Plain > Layout > Placement > Pages, choose Embed.

The result:

Did all of that Jeff but still no joy. I have refreshed the cache. I ahve tried it in 2 browsers and on my phone.

Unlike on your example page where the word "contact" is included, it does not appear in the page source on mine.

Please post a link to the "doesn't work" album. I can't just guess.

Check settings>Advanced>Structure. You have it set to 'Calendar' but it appears to only work if you use 'Mirror' or 'Flat'.

Puzzled the daylights out of me, but I've tracked down the source of the problem.

Instead of creating folders in the project, and putting your images into them, you've chosen Advanced > Structure > Calendar. For some reason, Plain does not like this. This is a bug, something that Laza will need to scratch his head about.

The quick fix is to go back to the default Advanced > Structure > Mirrored, create your own 2024 folder, with January and February folders under that, and move the images into them.

It was such a weird problem it piqued my curiosity and I decided to have a play.

My excellent skins, of course, do not suffer from this problem. ;)

I think the problem is with the core, as my merely adequate skin Missive also has the same problem - and I'm not embedding the page contents within the index body.

Without doing any testing, a hunch.... It may have to do with the processing of added pages. When doing one of these "structures," the core loses track of extra .htt files.

In my skins, this is handled without any other .htt files. It's just additional text/html material, entered within the skin UI, that's planted below the thumbnail table.

ETA: Either that, or it's just that all skins other than mine are rubbish. That's it... I'm going with that explanation.
