Jeff, I use that file in the res folder only. It is not part of the album, as a regular picture. But it seems now to me that jAlbum nevertheless does "something" with that file and complains about it.
It almost certainly has nothing to do with your glacial album build times, but it's always best to take care of these little distractions, just to make sure. It's all part of "building a clean test case."

It's definitely a format that jAlbum can't handle. If added to a project, it can't show a thumbnail, and it won't process the image. No problem if I simply convert it to a PNG. It's OK as a JPG, too, of course.
I knew that there is a problem. My webp is transparent, but your jpg isn't. But in my table I need a transparent one:
This is the code where I use that picture:
<th><img src="../../res/hurtigruten_logo_small.webp" alt="Hurtigruten"><br>km</th>

The bad thing about the triangle in the lower status line is, I never look at it, it is kind of invisible to my eyes. In our own applications, if there is an error, the user will get a message box, which he has to confirmed. So it is impossible to miss a critical situation. Yes, I know, that is not very nice but how should I cure a problem I never noticed. This is just my thought about the triangle in the status line.
I think we've discussed this before, my suggestion I think was to give provide a small electric, shock via a usb device, to the user.
Where, if still at the computer, do your eyes look when making an album? Maybe there is a better place for an alert? Like a big flashing triangle covering the explore window (only half joking)

I'm 100% on your side. But jAlbum does not show the errors prominently enough.

Because I know that compiling last several minutes I switch to other applications and doing something else. And when the compilation is finished? Well, that triangle is just way to small to get my attention.

In our own application we just have a similar situation. If there was an error, then the whole status line will be bold. This gets your attention immediately.
Or make the background color of the status line in a slightly different color. It doesn't have to be bright red at all.

I knew that there is a problem. My webp is transparent, but your jpg isn't. But in my table I need a transparent one:
I'm away from home, and away from my usual image processing applications (Win11 at home, old Macbook Air when away). Open the PNG in something like paint.net, and make the background transparent.

I managed to save a transparent png with "PhotoFiltre 11". I'll compile the album again, but not today, I would like to save the hard disk a bit.

I'll pass this webp image to the JDeli team that develops the codec for WebP. What software did you use to produce it?

I fully agree with you, this is one of the weak points of jAlbum.
For the same reason, I asked, without succes, for a final message after the Multi maker is ready with the processing of a list of projects.

Please stop your poisonous wordings. It's counter productive. We're a company of 3 people and have explained that some things take time due to time constraints too. Making that triangle yellow should be an easy task though.

Markus, I've analyzed your lifeboat file. If my calculations are right, you have 1916 images that are affected by "order by camera date", so on each album build, 1916 images are opened and parsed for camera dates before operation can continue. This could potentially be the cause of the slowdown. The "Cache image ordering" simply switches to "Custom ordering" everywhere, but naturally maintains the same ordering as "Camera ordering" has generated right now so you should be able to run this tool safely.

I only confirmed the observation of Markus
Making that triangle yellow should be an easy task though.
That will not help I think. You better look at other programs to see how they handle similar situations.

I have. Netbeans does just this for instance. It's more that some errors should be propagated to inform the user better. The triangle is intended for minor errors

I hope I can comment here, as I am a normal user.
And I hope very much that the MultiMaker doesn't stop once its been started. Thats the object of it, I am building albums that use skins that quite honestly I expect to have been refined and sorted out before they ever reach the MultiMaker, I also realise my albums should all have been created and uploaded to the website successfully before I use MultiMaker AT ALL.
I don't see MultiMaker being used as a tool for skin developers to use as a means to solving their skin problems.
You might just as well rewrite another function, specifically for skin developers to use for doing this stuff. How hard would that be ?
Seems like a no brainer to me.
Just thought I would ask that question

The source (pictures/videos are all on a HDD) and the size of all of this is about 1,5 TB. The C: drive (with all the applications) is already a SDD, and the output folder is also on a SDD. But upgrading my PC with another SDD for the rest is not a good idea, the PC is to old for that. I'll replace the whole thing with a new system where all parts are from the newest generation.
I use a Samsung T7 external SSD of 2TB for al my jAlbum input and output. I use this external SSD both with my desktop and laptop.
This works fast. If you buy such an SSD now, you can use it later also with your new system.
