A small label change

Users find the Settings > Advanced > Metadata > Comment sources > jAlbum (Text file) label confusing. They think it involves some sort of text file that they would be manually creating. You and I know that comments.properties is a text file, but users don't know that, and don't need to know it.

Suggest just jAlbum comments.

Why not just label it jAlbum, and change the box label from comment sources to data sources, since It actually includes titles. Or, change the titles sources to include jAlbum.

Now you're wandering into one of my old, unimplemented feature requests.

First, I wouldn't permit not using the jAlbum titles and comments. If a user doesn't want to use them, he shouldn't enter them.

Then, I'd set up clearer choices for the two fields, with a couple of nice draggable lists - one for title, one for comment - to choose from among the possible other sources (i.e., beyond the jAlbum entries). I'd include the ability to enter custom metadata - if the metadata field you want to use isn't in the list, add the name of the field you do want to use. Use the first one found.

And keywords too. ;)

No, those are just clutter, another one of those things that album creators love, but album visitors don't bother with. Dump 'em.

Future releases will show just jAlbum. Better than what's there now.

I'd still like to see that whole panel cleaned up - there are too many choices that are limited to oddball metadata fields, the panel labels don't match the actual names of the metadata fields, and it's not clear what settings apply to which jAlbum variables. But I've pretty much given up hope of ever seeing that.
