jA 20 freezes in Detail view

Hi,
just installed the new version 20 of JA and still get the crash with the new Detail view I reported here.
I upload a file with a folder "Prolog", just add it to the Sample Portfolio project and use the also included jap file. The resulting generated album is fine, but using the new Detail view for the "Prolog" folder leads to a frozen jAlbum application like I showed it in my video.
Thanks in advance, Markus

I do not get any "freezing" with that folder and those settings. It's a little slow to come up, since the comment field for the folder is virtually an entire website, but it doesn't freeze.

Thanks for testing. I confirm, that in one of the first betas of this new version it took some seconds to load that text in the command field, and even in the 19.6.3 version it does take some time. When I just delete the whole text of the comment and replace it with just "X" everything is fine. So I assume the freezing is triggered because of the comment text.
I even just switched the language of the GUI from German to English, still the same error.
I also encouter this problem on another Windows 10 machine. And I don't want to use that new version in my production PC until I found out what is going wrong.

Well, perhaps David can replicate the behavior. But you know the rule about bugs - a developer usually can't fix what he can't reproduce.
When I just delete the whole text of the comment and replace it with just "X" everything is fine.
Visitors to your site would probably prefer that, as well.

Yes, I know, I'm a developer myself and I'm telling this to my users too.

Of course. I'm pretty sure that your comment in this post was just because of my "fancy" (long) comments. But don't worry, I take your comments lightly.

Markus, do you have a zip of an album project that reproduces this problem?

He's uploaded a zip file: http://www.markus-drueck.de/JA/CrashWithDetails.zip
Add that folder to the Sample Portfolio, and copy the settings from the included .jap file. It's a little slow when shifting between views, but for me, at least, it never freezes.

Markus, do you have a zip of an album project that reproduces this problem?
What I found out today:
1) On one computer (Windows 10 Pro, German. JA 20, Skin Tiger) I installed jAlbum very fresh and started it directly;
2) Then I started an album with Tiger and looked at all possible folders in detail view. Everything ran without problems;
3) Then I closed jAlbum and restarted it immediately;
4) After only a few clicks jAlbum froze;
On my workstation (Windows 10 Pro. German, JA 20, Skin Tiger) I viewed several albums with jAlbum in detail view. It took only a few seconds to freeze jAlbum. It was astonishing that after I killed jAlbum with the Task Manager, I was able to look at the parts in the detail-view without any problems, where the crash happened before.
I'm aware that this won't help you much because you can't reproduce the problem. But hope dies last.

Markus, would you say that a key factor is that you have very long comments/descriptions in some images?

David, that was indeed my first impression, but today I tested with albums having only short comments, the longest I found was:
#
Mo-So-Mo-Fr. Funchal, Jardim Tropical Monte Palace; Cabo Girão, Ribeira Brava, Ponta do Sol, Calheta, Jardim do Mar, Paúl do Mar; Ponta de Sâo Lourenço, Porta da Cruz, Pico do Arieiro; Levada-Wanderung Funchal - Socorridos-Tal; Curral das Freiras, Santa Cruz, Portela, Vigia, Boaventura, Sâo Vicente, Câmara de Lobos; Calheta, Ponta do Pargo, Achadas da Cruz, Porto Moniz; Funchal, Levada do Caniçal; Curral das Freiras, Vereda da Boca do Risco; Curral dos Romeiros, Balcões, Capelha da Senhora da Piedade, Ponta de Sâo Lourenço, Ponta do Garajau; Cabo Girão, Ribeira Brava, Aeroporto da Madeira, Ponta de Sâo Lourenço
#
As long as no one else is reporting this error I can deal with it by just not using the new detail view. I'll try to play around if I can find anything with - by turning an option off or something like that - the error goes away. What I also tried is to use Photoblogger as a skin, but that makes no difference, it freezes JA too.
I'm sure we'll find out what is causing that error.

This got my attention.
A weak theory, and I don't know how to test it, but it sounds like, for some reason, jAlbum is not shutting down properly. When you launch it again, there's another instance hanging around out there, and it's the collision between the two that's causing havoc.
Maybe try leaving the Task Manager active, so you can see whether there's any suspicious activity out there.

I left the Task Manager open the whole time, and after killing the frozen JA there was no other instance of JA visible. I double checked that, no other instances after killing the JA process.

I'm not talking about looking for instances after you've killed the jAlbum process. I'm talking about looking for multiple instances when you get the freeze.

When JA freezes there is only one instance. See screenshot.
