Navy Days 2010

A visit to Portsmouth Navy Days 2010. Just a shadow of its former self, with just a handful of ships.

Representing the RN were two of the new batch 45 Destroyers that are in the process of replacing the type 42's, which are gradually being decommissioned (very sad).

Also at the event was the RFA Argus, HMS Cumberland, an impressive new fisheries patrol boat and a couple of minesweepers.

Only half the dockyard open to visitors - in years gone by the whole dockyard was used as dozens of ships took part.

Several RN ships were dotted around the dockyard in the process of being broken up, decommissioned or used as training ships. Glad to see the Belfast is still anchored out to sea.

A great day which brought a tear to the eye and a lump to the throat as the reminiscing took hold!
