<p>Big Bend, Texas<br />Recounting a tour of Big Bend, a remote area defined by a bend in the Rio Grande River in west Texas. Sparsely settled, Big Bend has the darkest, light-pollution-free skies in the continental USA. Astrophotograhers love it for this reason and it enabled this amateur to get a shot of our extended home - the Milky Way galaxy. Other highlights included Chisos Basin - one of the most beautiful areas in the whole of Big Bend National Park.
