Say hello to Jalbum Groups

Jalbum Groups

We're very excited to announce the launch of Jalbum Groups! Groups are a great way to share photo albums and discuss topics around a common theme. Groups can be about any imaginable subject, like Patterns, Trips to Asia or Macro. You can also make private groups for sharing albums with a group of friends, like your recent skiing trip together.

How Groups work

The basics
A group consists of a collection of albums submitted by the group members, a section for discussion, a list of members and an activity feed. The activity feed shows everything that is happening in the group such as album comments, new members joining or discussion entries.

Starting a group
When starting a group you automatically become the Group administrator. The administrator decides the Group name, description (or rules), and the design. Anyone can join groups, but starting out, only Premium and Power users will be able to create new groups.

Join the conversation
Anyone can join public groups. Simply find a group that fits your interest or albums and click the "Join Group" button. As a group member you can submit an album (or more) to the collection of Group albums. You automatically subscribe to Group activity that will show up on your news page. In the discussions tab you can either start a new topic or join in an existing dialogue.

Group management
The Group description can be changed at any time by the administrator. It's recommended to be very clear about what kind of content you would like the group to contain. That way the group keeps relevant around the theme or subject. Administrators can remove albums that don't fit the Group description. In private groups admins choose the people to invite.

Coming up

We're planning a new series of events called "Themed shoots", soon to be announced on Jalbum.net. We're very happy to involve one of the world's most famous photographers who's helping us to organize it. Make sure to get familiar with the new Group functionality and stay tuned for updates…

What will your group be? Check Groups out now!
