Our Android app is finally updated!

Our Android app that is used to view albums published to our community section and, if you use our storage, create and edit albums on the go has been with us since 2016.

The app has’t been updated since then, so it has been quite neglected. With the release of Android 12 some things even broke, like access to folders in albums. So an update was desperately needed.

Rather than adding new features, we prioritized fixing the app’s existing functionality to ensure it works seamlessly across all supported Android devices.

And now, the update is finally here!

The most prominent fixes are:

  • Folders now work even when using Android 12 and higher.
  • Higher resolution thumbnails. Screens have much higher resolution now than in 2016.
  • Better fullscreen usage and handling of camera cutouts and on screen navigation.
  • Using the new Android Photo Picker. It handles file permissions on its own.
  • Handling HTML in image captions. It used to just display the raw HTML.
  • New app icon.
  • Updated libraries and SDK. The app requires at least Android 5 and targets Android 14.

The app now runs on more than 19,000 different Android devices, using Android 5.0 to 15 and having various screen sizes and screen features. It is of course impossible for us to try them all. So if the app doesn’t work well on your device, please contact support@jalbum.net and provide data about your device and screenshots illustrating the issue and we’ll try to provide an update!

If the app do work well you are of course welcome to post a positive review in the Google Play store! We need them… 🙂

Now, go and get the update:

The old version from 2016 will very soon stop working, due to old http libraries.

We have released some minor updates of the app after the initial update. Make sure you run the very latest version!
