Change!

Today we are releasing a big update to the jalbum.net site. It's not big in the sense that there will be a lot of new features, or a high amount of bug fixes. Sure there will be a few bug fixes as well, but the real change is much more fundamental than that!

Twice the gigabytes

We have just doubled the amount of storage that you get with a Premium or Power account! This means that a Premium account now gives you 2 GB, and a Power account gives you a massive 20 GB. You get room for twice as many albums, for no extra cost! This applies to both existing and new Premium and Power users.

New accounts structure

We want to give everyone a fair chance to try our service. Since the launch of our hosting service in 2007 we have given away a small amount of free storage to all registered accounts, but time goes by, and these days 30 MB won't get you far and chances are high that you won't even be able to fit your first album into the free space we give you.

We decided that a change was needed, but we are a small company based around a software that we give away for free, and developing a popular photo sharing site, supporting thousands of users and hosting a huge amount of albums has its costs. Basically, our accounts are vital for the jAlbum project to work out economically, so in order for us to be able to do these changes we needed to rethink our accounts structure.

Try a Premium account for free

Starting today, newly registered users will no longer get the small free account, instead they will be given a 30 day trial account. This way new users get to try all the features of a jAlbum Premium account for free during a limited period of time.

All users with existing free accounts also have the option to upgrade to a trial account, but we're not forcing anyone. You can still keep your old free account if you wish to.
