Beta is now Better

We’ve had a "Beta" tag stuck to the Jalbum logo on the site for a while to indicate that our new community site is still in a very early stage. We are far from where we want to take this site but we’ve made some improvements and decided to change the tag to "Better" ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for all the great input we get and for all the stunning albums added to the site, you’re the ones making the site better! Here are the latest updates:

Jalbum Skin Viewer on Skin tab
Alan927 has done a tremendous job making the Jalbum Skin Viewer. It is now updated with thumbnails for each skin to make it easy to navigate (thanks Laza for your contribution!). The Skin Viewer can now be found under the skin tab.

The download map is back
The map showing Jalbum activity the latest hour has been removed since the launch of the new site, but now it’s back! The Jalbum activity map shows:
– Jalbum software downloads (green dots)
– Skin downloads (yellow dots)
– Jalbum software starts (red dots)

Be patient, it takes a few seconds to load – there’s a lot of activity ๐Ÿ˜‰ You can also find the download map from the Jalbum software tab on the site.

Comment and add albums to favorites straight from the thumbnails
We’ve made it more convenient to comment and add albums to your favorites by adding mouse-over effects to the large thumbnails on the site. Simply hover over the thumbnails, on the explore section for example, and you’ll see the options there. These functions are great ways of connecting with fellow Jalbumers.

Profile info moved to your community home page
We found that the Profile tab on users pages were a bit hidden. We have now removed that tab and moved the info to your community home page instead (My pages). Have a look in the right column on that page. Your info is easy to update, simply click on the info you’d like to change.

Easier to write descriptions to albums
Jalbum albums are fun to explore, because they usually tell a story, display an interesting theme or event and not just single photos drawn out of the context. What’s your album about? Writing a description of your album is a great way to guide your visitors to what they are viewing. It’s now easy to add a description to your album, from your Albums page. The description will automatically be updated on your board.

Better board events

We have made the album board events smarter. They no longer display the ugly "[no description]" and they will not spam your own board when updating your album several times. It will now only display one post to the board if you’ve made several updates to the album within a few hours. All the boards will be a lot prettier ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy!
