Easy to Use

Easy to use

You'll be instantly familiar with jAlbum's explorer-like user interface. Use drag-and drop to add new photos and videos. Create folders to better organize your gallery. Use the right-click menu (context menu) to access the most frequently used functions, like sorting, rotating, editing or choosing as folder thumbnail. Add captions right below the thumbnails.

Upload to Any Site

Upload to any site

You can upload your galleries to any place on the internet: to your own site or blog. You can even share a gallery straight from your hard disk. If you don't own a site, use jalbum.net – our community site – which is specialized on storing, sharing and showcasing web galleries in a spectacular way.

Huge Volumes

Supports huge image volumes

jAlbum is optimized to handle huge image volumes and can use your current folder structure. This means you can update your web galleries with more images or new features in no time at all.

An average jAlbum gallery has 70 images and it is not uncommon to find galleries with 10.000 to 100.000 images presented in an organized portfolio site created with just a few clicks.

Many organizations appreciate jAlbum for this aspect as they have a recurring need to update image galleries of their events. Here are some examples:

Organizes your images

Are your images laying around in a mess on various disks and memory cards? jAlbum quickly and easily organizes them into clear folder trees based on camera date (year, month etc), name or place (GPS location). Duplicates are handled and jAlbum provides multi level undo/redo so you can play around. Here are two videos showing how jAlbum handles files and how to get your images organized. No lock-in

With jAlbum there is minimal lock-in. jAlbum is a cross platform desktop software for Windows, Mac and Linux. As such it doesn't rely on central cloud services. It works within your existing folder structure (you know where your files are) and uses Adobe’s open standard for handling metadata like captions, ratings and keywords (xmp). This means it integrates well with Photoshop, Lightroom and Bridge, and your valuable metadata is kept within your image files. jAlbum’s configuration files are plain text and XML and most skins are open source that you can modify to your liking. It’s easy to start using jAlbum and it’s easy to stop using jAlbum.

Customize with Skins

Customize presentation

Skins are plugins to jAlbum which determine the layout and feature set of the generated web galleries. Some skins are simple and easy to modify, while others have advanced features, like Google maps integration, video playback or shopping cart integration to name a few. jAlbum comes bundled with about 10 skins and you can install dozens of new ones from our skins section.

You can even edit or create new skin templates with jAlbum's built-in editor.

Video Support Video Support

Supports video

jAlbum is not just about presenting images, it's just as good at handling videos. jAlbum converts over 160 different video formats to mp4, a format suitable for web presentation over a range of browsers and devices. Just drag and drop to create stunning video galleries!

Edit Images

Edit images

In Edit mode you're able to view your photos in larger size, add captions and apply various filters. Adjust your images with the Crop and Straighten tool, fine tune with Gamma and Level or apply various artistic filters. You can even add text to your images, e.g. for the purpose of watermarking. Note, your originals will be never touched, only the downscaled version in the final gallery.

Protect Images

Protect your images

jAlbum offers a range of methods to help protect your images: Images can be watermarked and have your logo stamped onto them in batch. You can have copyright notices added to the metadata of your images. Images can be scaled to "suitable for web only" sizes and the use of the right mouse button to save images can be disabled on browers that respect that hint (supported by some skins only).

Shopping Cart

Sell your images

With jAlbum it's truly easy to sell your images (or the items they show). It only takes a couple of minutes to set up an album that is fitted with a shopping cart (supported by some skins only). You decide the pricing and products to sell. jAlbum currently integrates with PayPal, Google Checkout and Fotomoto (which also handles printing and delivery for you). Here's a video on how to fit your jAlbum album with a shopping cart. Here are some examples:

Create full websites

Create fully customizable, professional web photo sites complete with “about” and “contact” pages, shopping cart, social integration and map support.

Create together

Managing galleries where several people contribute with images is easy. We give you an email address in the format username@jalbum.net. This email address can be attached to one or many collaborative gallery projects. Images mailed to such addresses appear automatically in the respective project and your contributors are notified of updates. Read more in our blog post →.

jAlbum Bridge

Lightroom Plugin

Create web galleries from
Lightroom Classic

Our Lightroom Classic plugin allows you to set up and manage ”collections” and ”collection sets” within Lightroom which are mapped towards jAlbum galleries. Every time you publish from our plugin, new and modified images are exported from Lightroom to jAlbum (a folder under the ”My Albums” location). Finally, the corresponding jAlbum project is opened in jAlbum for further editing, album making and final publishing to a web site of your choice.
