More info: "Back in 2003, I discovered jAlbum in the search of a web photo album generator to distribute and share my photos. Later I came up with BluPlusPlus skin to fulfill my needs completely (thanks to jAlbum's flexible templating system which is cleanly backed by java), and released it in public. And it's a couple of years I'm doing java professionally and enjoy software development a lot :-) As well, I'm an amateur photographer (a happy owner of "Canon EOS 350D") and enjoy photography as my main hobby especially if I'm on trip. /Armond"

Name: Anders Engblom
Connection: Skin author (XP, Windows Media Player and others) and creator of the JRepository
Location: Umeå, Sweden
E-mail:
More info: "I first came in contact with jAlbum when I got my first digital camera. I needed something that would take the labor out of creating photo albums and jAlbum fit the bill. Then there was the matter of finding the right skin - preferably something with an user interface that my father already knew - hence the XP skin. After I had created a few more skins it became clear that we needed a central place to share our skins and as David had his hands full with maintaining the actual jAlbum application, I put together the JRepository.
When I'm not in front of the computer (it's both my job and my hobby) I spend my time with my wife Marina and our dog Gibson. I am also a hobby musician, playing both the piano and the guitar. Right now my heart is set on mastering the jazz piano - with very mixed results I might add..."

Profile: http://robm.jalbum.net/
More info: "I'm not a programmer, my background is in electronic engineering, and I don't "know" Java, but thanks to the ease of use of jAlbum and the support of the community I've been amazed at how much one can do with this program. In my case I wanted to be able to build a photo gallery that not only looked like it was part of a web site but was also fully integrated into it, rather than being an "add on". I also wanted to use CSS positioning instead of tables and frames and came up with the Notables skin. I also wrote a tool for creating a javascript based random slide show and total image count (handy for a count of images across multiple projects)."

Name: Cody B. Fergusson
Connection: Skin developer: EyeSocket, Reflections
Location: Simi Valley, California, USA
Website: http://xexyl.net
Profile: http://coderjunkie.jalbum.net/
More info: "The first computers I ever used were the Atari 1040ST and the Apple IIe. Perhaps it was the command line interface of the Apple IIe that influenced me the most. I really liked the power of the command line. It was only natural, then, that since I was very into puzzles and challenges, that when I got into computers more that I would get into programming too. In 1991, I got my first PC and this is when I started experimenting a lot. One other thing I really enjoyed were the video game consoles at the time. This is also the time that I really became a huge music fan - something that influences me to this day. A few years later I started experimenting with Unix based operating systems and really low level programming (even machine code). In 2003 something significant, computer wise, happened. I was given access to my first real programming project - a text based game (a multi-user dungeon/MUD) called ImagicaMUD. I really enjoyed it a lot. The founder eventually also got me to see how useful OOPs are, and that includes Java. A month or so into it, I remembere jAlbum that I had seen in the past. I thought it'd be fun to make a skin - and indeed it was so fun that I wanted to do more. This is when I made some image filters, and continued with additional projects related to jAlbum."

Website: http://www.f-schuerer.de
More info: "In 2002 I had to find a way to organize about 1000 photos on a CD for easy presentation. I found jAlbum was a great program that could offer a range of flexibility that is not limited to some predefined templates. At that time the Help of jAlbum was only in English language and I thought it would be great when German speaking people, who aren't fluent in English could use this free program and create their own photo albums easily. So I translated the help files to German and later the jAlbum texts as well when a new update came out. My hobbies and my profession include developing software in C/C++, Java or Delphi and occasionally creating web pages."

More info: "After retiring from my job of textbook editor (science, math, IT ...) a few years ago, I love to hike and bike in Lapland and elesewhere with or without a camera. In my spare time I enjoy building houses for me and my wife and used jAlbum to show pictures of the second big project, our villa by the lakeside. I have used various skins and also translated Turtle into Finnish. Most of my albums are on my own site."
Returning from a skiing trip in 2002, founder David Ekholm intended to share his newly taken pictures with his friends. David started to look for photo album software and tried out what the market had to offer. After numerous disappointments with various album clients, being a programmer, he decided to take matters into his own hands...
With jAlbum you have full control of the look of the generated album, not just the color theme and basic layout. Making an album is still just a simple matter of drag and drop, plus a button click if you prefer to use one of the many existing looks. jAlbum will process your images, make index pages, create slide show pages and even upload the final album to the Internet for your friends to see. jAlbum runs on all platforms and speaks over 30 languages.
Today, jAlbum is one of the world's most popular applications for producing web photo albums. The jAlbum application has been used to publish more than twenty million albums and is downloaded more than two thousand times per day. The variety of album skins and the possibility to personalize the presentation makes jAlbum extremely flexible. jAlbum has an active community that contributes to the development of the skins, plugins and language options.
